East Texas Cabin Rentals - There are many interesting places to visit in Texas, but the Piney Woods
area of East Texas is a beautiful setting for any cabin rental getaway. Each year I plan a special
weekend getaway with my son and I was looking for a log cabin rental fairly close to Dallas. Both the
cabin and the location worked out just great and the weather in mid-November was in the mid 70's
and very comfortable for outdoor activities.
The Pine Cone Cabin is located about 100 miles east of Dallas just north of Hawkins and Tyler,
Texas. It is located in the gated Holly Lake Ranch community, which has on-site security, an 18-hole
PGA golf course, lakes, restaurants, and an activity center where you can sign out sports equipment
and other items. There are also hiking trails in the community, putt-putt golf, tennis and many other
activities available here. Although there is much to do at Holly Lake Ranch, the surrounding towns
provide many opportunities to explore, eat out, or catch a movie. Tyler State Park is a beautiful area to
visit and is just a little over 10 miles south of here.
The cabin was equipped with everything that we may have wanted or needed. The owners include a
helpful binder in the cabin with maps and other useful information. It contains helpful tidbits about the
cabin and the surrounding area. They were also very good about including items that we may have
forgotten (e.g. sunscreen, a hairdryer).
All and all my son and I had a wonderful time. The cabin had everything we needed and it was a great
base camp for exploring the area. One night we just hung out and relaxed around the fire watching
some TV, talking and enjoying a pizza from the Activity Center. While we were there we golfed, visited
Tyler State Park and spent some time in and around Tyler.
If you are looking for a nice place to get away and relax, then you may want to consider renting the Pine
Cone cabin in East Texas for your next trip. It was a great stay for us, and both the cabin and the area
have much to offer

Although, many of the homes in the community are
fairly close together, the cabin is located in a very
secluded, densely forested area at the end of the road.
The cabin is a nice log cabin with a great front porch to
sit back and relax ,and enjoy the scenery. It has an
open living room, dining room, kitchen area, along with
two bedrooms and one and a half baths. There is a
nice wood stove in the living room that we made good
use of. It was great to relax and visit with a nice fire
crackling in the fireplace. In fact, when we arrived the
fireplace was already loaded with wood and kindling,
so that all we needed to do was open up the draft and
light it.
